Pyrography by Jules
Hi, I am an artist based in Co. Tipperary, Ireland.
I have a passion for animals and a love of wood.
I specialise in the art of pyrography - this is a technique of decorating wood by burning a design on the surface with a heated metallic point.
My canvas is a solid slab of rustic wood - and this alone makes every piece totally unique.
All work is done by hand, painstakingly building up layer after layer to achieve the range of texture required.
I occasionally use acrylic paint to sometimes add a small pop of colour as can be seen in some of my pieces.
I work from photos - and can do animals, pets, portraits, landscapes.....etc.
Each piece can take 3/4 weeks depending on the size and complexity of the image and when finished it is sealed with 2 coats of silk varnish which enhances both the image and wood used.
Smart Turnout is a British company with its roots firmly in the Military. Our Founder, Philip Turner is a former Scots Guard and first started the business after designing his own racing colours when riding in the Grand Military.
Inspired by the birth of Smart Turnout during the 1999 race at Sandown, the Jockey doorstop is fully customisable and makes for the ideal gift. Measuring 1ft tall and weighing in at 7lbs, our original jockey doorstop is a bit smaller than the real thing but is still a great way to hold the door open. Cast in Philips family foundry and meticulously painted by hand, the Jockey doorstop can be personalised with your very own racing colours, making it truly bespoke to you.
